The work. The Dixit-Stiglitz model of monopolistic competition, the foundation of new trade theory and new growth theory, plus the investment-under-uncertainty framework with Pindyck.
The case for. Dixit-Stiglitz is one of the most used models in economics. Krugman's prize, Romer's prize, and Aghion and Howitt's all ran on it.
The case against. He is 82 and Stiglitz already won in 2001 for something else. The committee has had three chances to reward the model and rewarded its users instead.
The KmikeyM angle. Dixit and Pindyck showed that an irreversible commitment under uncertainty carries option value you destroy by acting early. Every KmikeyM vote on a life decision is priced the same way.
