The work. Behavioral game theory, then neuroeconomics: putting subjects in brain scanners to watch an economic choice get made.
The case for. He bridged psychology, game theory, and neuroscience before it was fashionable, and his book on behavioral game theory is the field's standard text.
The case against. Behavioral economics has been rewarded twice, with Kahneman in 2002 and Thaler in 2017, the same year Camerer was named. Neuroeconomics has not yet produced a result the committee can name.
The KmikeyM angle. Camerer studies how real people play strategic games with limited foresight, which is a fair description of a shareholder vote on somebody else's life.
