The case for. Urban economics has never been rewarded outright, and Glaeser is the field's public face and its most cited living practitioner. Housing is now a first-order political fight in every rich country.
The case against. Krugman's 2008 prize already touched economic geography, and the committee may see urban as a subfield rather than a body of theory.
The KmikeyM angle. Glaeser's thesis is that proximity makes people more productive; KmikeyM's shareholders have spent years voting on where one man should live.
