The work. The Taylor rule, the formula tying the policy interest rate to inflation and the output gap, plus staggered wage contracts that gave sticky-price macro its nominal rigidity.

The case for. Every central bank on earth benchmarks itself against his rule. Few economists have a formula that policymakers cite in meetings.

The case against. Bernanke, Diamond, and Dybvig took a banking prize in 2022. Taylor is 79 and his public hawkishness has made him a partisan figure, which committees tend to avoid.

The KmikeyM angle. A Taylor rule replaces discretion with a formula anyone can check. KmikeyM's shareholder votes do the same thing to one person's discretion.
