The work. The New Keynesian model in its modern form: the New Keynesian Phillips curve with Gertler, the textbook central bank economists learned from, and the finding that technology shocks lower hours worked.

The case for. The Clarida, Galí, and Gertler framework is the model central banks actually use. If the committee ever rewards the 2000s monetary consensus, he sits at its center.

The case against. That consensus took damage after 2008 and again after the 2021 inflation miss. A three-way split with Taylor and Gertler dilutes any individual case.

The KmikeyM angle. Galí's models are about credible commitment: a central bank that binds itself beats one that improvises, which is the whole argument for letting shareholders bind Mike.
