Luigi Zingales

The work. Zingales works on corporate governance, the political economy of finance, and the question of who capitalism actually serves. With Rajan he wrote Saving Capitalism from the Capitalists; on his own, A Capitalism for the People and a long run of papers on trust, culture, and the finance-growth link.

The case for. Kalshi lists him, and the committee has been drifting toward political economy. The governance work is widely cited and unusually readable.

The case against. He is a public intellectual as much as a researcher, his best-known co-author Rajan is a separate ticket, and the committee rarely rewards podcasts.

The KmikeyM angle. Zingales asks whether shareholders should run things and whether they do; KmikeyM is one person who let them, so his work is the closest thing to a literature review of the experiment.
